Cheltenham Festival 2023

Be part of Britain’s best jump racing event next year at the 2023 Cheltenham Festival. 4 days of extraordinary races including the prestigious Gold Cup

The Cheltenham Festival is one of the world’s most iconic sporting events featuring 28 races, including 14 Grade ones, over four extraordinary action packed days of racing. All the best horses, trainers and jockeys will be competing at the Festival for the number one spot in each race.

After a crowd less Cheltenham Festival in 2021, the racecourse achieved its record attendance of 280,627 over the four days at this year’s Cheltenham Festival. This proved beyond doubt that even after a year away; the race goers appetite for the unique atmosphere and experience that the Cheltenham Festival has to offer has only increased.

Cheltenham Festival in 2021 saw Rachael Blackmore become the first female jockey to achieve ‘Jockey of the Festival’ with six victories, including the Champion Hurdle. Which seemed only to make her even more determined. This year, Rachael broke another record! This time becoming the first female jockey to win the iconic Gold Cup, when she rode ‘A Plus Tard’ which is represented by well-respected trainer – Henry De Bromhead.

But it didn’t stop there. Rachael Blackmore rode Honeysuckle in the Champion Hurdle to keep her 100% win rate. However, Cheltenham 2023 might be Honeysuckles toughest yet, with renowned trainer Nicky Henderson flirting with the possibility of entering ‘Constitutional Hill’ into the Champions Hurdle next year to rival Honeysuckle making it a race you don’t want to miss out on!

Cheltenham Festival 2022 saw Willie Mullins smash his previous record for the most wins at Cheltenham with 9 at the 2022 Cheltenham, Beating the likes of Gordon Elliott, Nicky Henderson, Venetia Williams, and Henry de Bromhead.

The Cheltenham Festival  has seen a great rivalry between the home team of British-trained runners and those crossing the Irish Sea for many years that compete for the The Prestbury Cup

To celebrate this rivalry, the competition between the Britain and Ireland is officially titled The Prestbury Cup.

The Prestbury Cup runs from the first race of the four-day meeting until either country has 14 winners or more.

The Prestbury Cup, named after the nearest village to Cheltenham Racecourse, will be presented to jockeys and trainers from Ireland or Britain once the winning country is confirmed.

The Cup itself has been sealed with some hallowed Cheltenham turf, so the winning country will be taking a little bit of Cheltenham with them.
