This year’s Rugby League World Cup will be the 16th instalment of the tournament which is being held here in the UK!


When is the Rugby League World Cup –

The Rugby League World Cup is set to start on Saturday 15th October 2022 at St James Park, with the opening game being England v Samoa. The tournament will culminate in spectacular fashion in Manchester at Old Trafford on 19 November 2022.

The tournament was pushed back to 2022 following the decision of the reigning champions Australia and 2008 winners New Zealand not to travel to England due to the concerns around the Covid-19 pandemic.



Where is the Rugby League World Cup –

This year’s Rugby League World Cup will be the sixteenth staging of the event and will be held in the UK from Saturday 15th October 2022 to Saturday 19th November 2022.

All fixtures will be held at various stadiums across the UK making it more accessible to all Rugby fans.



The stadiums hosting the fixtures –

The Stadiums that will hold all the RLWC games including men’s, women’s, and wheelchair will be across 14 different cities and 19 different stadiums.















The teams participating in the Rugby League World Cup –  

Countries from all over the world have put forward a squad of their best Rugby League players from their countries to represent and travel to the UK to compete in this year’s World Cup.

There are 16 teams entered into the competition.

Each country will play a total of 3 group stage games. If they’re able to qualify, they will then be placed into quarterfinals, winner of that game will then move onto the semi-finals for the chance to play their final game at Old Trafford to be crowned the Rugby League World Cup 2022 champions!



When is the Rugby League Women’s World Cup –  

The Rugby League Women’s World Cup 2022 will see eight teams compete over three weeks with the opening game being held at Headingley Stadium, Leeds on Tuesday 1st November

The two games being played on the opening day are:

England v Brazil

Papua New Guinea v Canada

The tournament will come to an end on Saturday 19th November where the Women’s final will take place at Old Trafford as a double header final with the men’s final.



When is the Rugby League Wheelchair World Cup –

The Wheelchair Rugby League World Cup runs from Thursday 3rd November to Friday 18th November. This is the first time the wheelchair competition will be part of the Rugby League World Cup main event.

Wheelchair rugby league is genuinely one of the most inclusive sports of all – It’s not only just a disability sport because non-disabled people are welcome to compete as well, with both men and women able to play on the same team.

Rugby League Wheelchair World Cup 2022 will be contested by eight teams with an epic opening double header clash between: England v Australia & Spain v Norway at the Copper Box Arena in London
