10 Years, 10 Teams: VIP Matchdays Celebrate Its 10^th Birthday by Pledging to Support Community Sports Clubs

Today marks a huge milestone for the team here at VIP Matchdays: it’s our 10^th birthday. It has been an incredible 10 years and we couldn’t have reached a decade of success without the incredible support of the sporting community. To celebrate our 10^th birthday and give something back to the community that has supported us, we are launching a new initiative: the VIP Matchdays 10 Club Pledge.

We are dedicating investment to 10 different grassroots or community sports clubs in and around East Yorkshire to help them thrive!

Why Grassroots/Community Sports Clubs?

For 10 years, we have dedicated ourselves to creating unforgettable matchday experiences, with crucial support from our community. Now, we want to give back to that community by supporting the foundations of sport in the East Yorkshire region.

Local clubs are vital hubs at the very heart of all sports. They give the next generation of sporting stars their first opportunities, helping to develop character, skills and fitness, as well as building their passion and enjoyment of their respective sport.

We believe that by investing in community sports teams, we can invest directly in the future of sports in the East Yorkshire region and give back to a community who has supported us from the start.

Meet the First 3 Clubs to Join the 10 Club Pledge

We are delighted to be able to kick off this campaign by announcing the first 3 fantastic clubs who we have pledged our support to.

Goole Vikings

Goole Vikings became East Yorkshire’s first professional sports team when they made the step into Betfred League One in 2025 and will be competing in the Betfred Championship in 2026. The Vikings have strong ties to their local community in Goole including several junior Rugby League teams, and we are delighted to be extending our support for them into the 2026 season.

Cottingham Tigers

Grassroots club Cottingham Tigers is passionate about giving Rugby League lovers the opportunity to play the sport, no matter their age, gender or ability. At VIP Matchdays, we believe that their journey to open up the sport to all is crucial. As a result, we are continuing our support for Cottingham Tigers’ Mens and Ladies Masters teams for the upcoming season, providing more opportunities for open-age participation.

West Hull ARLFC

West Hull ARLFC are a highly successful amateur rugby club in Hull, whose first team have won the National Conference League Premier Division 10 times including in 2025, where they also played Super League club St Helens in the Challenge Cup. Co-founded by Jonny Whiteley MBE, West Hull have a large youth setup as well as open age teams, with former players including Super League Man of Steel Mikey Lewis.

The 10 Club Pledge is well underway, but we are still looking for 7 more community clubs who we can support as part of this initiative.
